One of Marietta's longest operating, locally owned businesses, Crescent & Sprague Supply Co. is proud to have provided more than 100 years of dedicated service to its customers throughout the Ohio Valley.
Founded in 1896, the Crescent Supply Company was originally a manufacturer of high- grade motor oils and lubricants, located in the Harmar area of Marietta. After the 1913 flood, the company relocated to its present location at the corner of Greene and Acme streets, and at the same time, expanded its wholesale offerings to plumbing products and hardware. To this day, Crescent serves these needs for customers within a 150-mile radius.
In 1987 Crescent Supply merged with B.S. Sprague Electric, another 100-year old Marietta firm, to form the Crescent & Sprague Supply Company, Inc. Since then it has undergone several major changes, including the servicing of industrial accounts, such as Solvay, Thermo Electron, Broughton Foods, Eveready, American Electric Power, Allegheny Power Systems, Globe Metallurgical, and Eramet to name a few. With one of the largest product inventories in the Valley and a client base that is more than tripled since its formation, Crescent & Sprague is the region's leading wholesale and industrial distributor of quality Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, and Waterworks supplies. Crescent & Sprague is the authorized stocking distributor of products from such leading manufacturers as Siemens, Appleton, Bussman, Square-D, Hoffman, Holophane, Hubbell, Killark, Thomas & Betts, Brady, Bradley, Panduit, Sylvania, Rheem, and Watts, to name a few.
Another major change came in 1994 with the addition of a retail showroom. The 11,000 square-foot showroom features a vast selection of merchandise including indoor and outdoor lighting fixtures from such makers as Hubbell and Progress. ; a complete line of kitchen and bathroom fixtures from American Standard, Delta, Bertch, Aker and Aquaglass; Empire Comfort Systems and fireplaces; and many other decorative and everyday use items. Specially trained showroom representatives are on staff Monday through Saturday to assist customers with their product selections.
In 2001 Crescent and Sprague again answered the needs of our customers. After years of doing business in the Athens, OH. market we acquired Rowland Supply Co. Doing so enabled us to service Ohio University, Hocking College and all of the Athens county area. Now in 2004 we have expanded again. Seeing the need for local distribution of Water works products we have incorporated a Water Works division into our Marietta facility. This will allow us to service area municipalities, cities and public service districts.

Providing the highest level of service is a serious pursuit of Crescent & Sprague Supply. In our continuing effort to achieve that, we offer a range of value added services for our customers. These include a fleet of delivery trucks that operate on a consistent schedule and provide delivery to our customers; a Will Call service for quick pick-up of items at our store; and emergency after-hours service available 24-hours, seven days per week for those unexpected crises that occur outside of Crescent & Sprague's regular business hours.
